PTA MORE, All Star Dad present Father & Kids Experience at Wrigley Field

9/3/2008

Tampa, Fla. (September 3, 2008) – Studies show that students do better when both parents are involved both at home and at school. Each fall, as the school bell rings, the Parent Teacher Association – PTA – reaches out asking parents to join their local school chapter.  On September 13th, the PTA in Chicago will take that outreach to Wrigley Stadium as they join the All Star Dad Father & Kids Experience for a morning of fun activities and tips on being a better father.  The Father & Kids Experience, presented by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon.

Founded by Family First, the All Star Dad fatherhood program helps to educate fathers on the best ways to become an “All Star Dad.”  Fathers are encouraged to bring their children to the event, where they will learn fatherhood tips and participate in special activities with their kids, while rotating through baseball-themed learning stations which will be located on the field at Wrigley Field. In tune with the start of school, the event also will feature a short address by Chuck Saylors, the National PTA’s first male President elect.

“Men remain a largely untapped resource for our school’s PTAs, and we are excited to be able to partner with the All Star Dad program, to help inform and encourage dads to become more involved,” said Saylors.

"Thousands of men in Chicago and around the world are becoming better husbands and fathers by joining our All Star Dad team,” said Bryan Davis, Director of All Star Dad. “To become an All Star Dad, we encourage men to spend one minute a day reading our free daily email, The Play of the Day, one hour a month participating in a Dad's Day breakfast, and one day a year taking part in our All Star Dad Father and Kids Experience. We also support our fathers being more active in their child’s education."

Anyone (including moms!) affiliated with the PTA are admitted at no cost.  Please visit www.allprodad.com/pta to register.
